The Mahasati Insight Meditation Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted and necessary for our survival. These funds help to defray the costs of running the organization. We thank you for any gifts or pledges that you may offer.
We formed our association to support the practice of Mahasati Insight meditation, a technique developed by the 20th-century Thai insight meditation master, Luangpor Teean. In addition to our online offerings, we offer residential retreats and are affiliated with two practice centers in the United States—one in Redding, CT, and the other in Wenham, MA.
Core Principles
Our local practice communities avoid ritual and dogma and do not discourage practice in other spiritual traditions. Our centers aspire to cultivate an atmosphere of openness, gentleness, and mutual support.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help people free their hearts and minds from stress and experience the freedom of the Buddha’s awakening.
Our Teachers
Our teachers are ordained Thai Forest monks who studied directly with Luangpor Teean.
What is Mahasati?
Mahasati Insight meditation is a form of Vipassana meditation originating from Southeast Asia. Mahasati in Pali means “great awareness.”
